Notch Teases a Secret in Minecraft

During a conversation between Minecraft creator Markus 'Notch' Persson and SpyParty's Chris Hecker at GDC 2012, Persson teased there's still some undiscovered secret in Minecraft. Though no additional details were provided on what it might be, the subject came up during a crafting discussion where Hecker and Persson were talking about how consulting a wiki was almost a required part of the play experience.

To date, Minecraft has sold almost 5.2 million copies. You'd figure everything about the game would be known at this point considering how long it's been available and how active the modding community is, but apparently one secret has eluded even the most hardcore players.

During the discussion Persson touched on a number of topics about Minecraft's development, and expressed regret over introducing half-blocks and neglecting to implement multiplayer earlier in the development process. He also noted why no female character model was included in the game. "It ends up being extremely sexist," said Persson of an earlier attempt to make it happen.
