Apple Announces Apple Watch and Release Date Plus My Thoughts

Apple has previously announced its new venture into wearable tech, but now we have all the details. At today's press conference, Apple answered most of the big remaining questions such as "How much does it cost?" and "When will it be out?".

The Watch will come in three different formats (and many sub-formats) and will release on April 25. Each model comes in a 38mm or 42mm watch face size depending on how chunky of a device you prefer on your wrist. The battery life is rated at 18 hours, and it includes wi-fi, bluetooth, a heart rate sensor, accelerometer, and gyroscope. Here's the breakdown on the primary offerings:

Our Opinion:
Personally I am very excited about the launch of the Apple Watch, NOT because Apple is releasing a watch but because this may open the door for 3rd party companies making better watches for the iPhone. Currently we have Android based watches that are beautiful and amazing such as the Asus Zenwatch. Nothing available for iPhone that isn't generic like the Pebble (a product that I bought and shortly after returned).

Now to give thoughts on the actual product. The Apple Watch looks beautiful and comes in 3 styles to meet your needs. I think a $10,000 model will get several buyers but to pay that much for a watch that you will probably replace and upgrade with the next version is pricey. Apple can bring more buyers in if they offer a program that if you buy the luxury model Apple will upgrade you for what ever the price of the technology and you still keep your nice 18k gold without having to fork over another $10,000.

This watch is a great step for Apple at a time where smart watches are becoming more popular, the added benefit of heart rate monitor will surely make people switch form a sports tracker to this smart watch. Exactly how well or what kind of reaction will occur when the product launches is yet to be seen, but judging by how anything with a half eaten apple on the back gets everyone's money, I am sure this product will do well.
